New collection, ProQuest™ Dissertations & Theses Citation Index released to the Web of Science platform!

ProQuest Dissertation & Theses Citation Index

On July 13, 2023 a new collection, ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Citation Index (PQDTCI) will be added to the Web of Science platform enabling discovery of over 5.6 million dissertations and theses from over four thousand universities. All customers with a current subscription to at least one edition of the Web of Science Core Collection will automatically be entitled to this new collection.

Key Features

The ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Citation Index will be a standalone database and included by default in an All Databases Search. PQDTCI users will have all the powerful search, refine, and results analysis features that are native to the Web of Science platform so that they can search broadly and then narrow their focus to a particular collection, subject category, institution, etc. Users can also limit their search to dissertations and theses by selecting to search only the ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Citation Index.

  • Standalone and aggregated search
    • PQDT is included in the All Database Search and can also be searched as a standalone collection

  • Track citation activity in the Web of Science Core Collection
    • Dissertations and theses that have been cited by Web of Science Core Collection records will include a citation count and a link to the citing articles.
  • Link to full text of dissertations and theses on the ProQuest Platform
    • Institutions that subscribe to the PQDT Global on the ProQuest Platform will be able to link directly to their entitled full text.

  • Claim dissertations or theses to Web of Science Research Profiles
    • Researchers can manually claim their dissertation or thesis to their Web of Science Researcher Profile and make it part of the public view of their profile.

Notes:

ProQuest Dissertation and Theses Citation Index will be released to customers in two phases.

  • Phase 1: On July 13, ProQuest Dissertation and Theses Citation Index will go live on the WOS platform with fully searchable records for over 5.6 million dissertations and theses. The records will not include cited reference indexing, which means that functionality such as Related Records search and navigation to the cited reference list for a dissertation or thesis will not be available.
  • Phase 2: A future release will include citation indexing for each dissertation and thesis, fully connecting them to the Web of Science citation network and allowing users to explore the citation connections between dissertations and the other foundational research included on the Web of Science platform.

The ProQuest Dissertation and Theses Citation Index will be available in the Web of Science Expanded API for an additional fee.

Thank you for your support and feedback. Together we will bring a better Web of Science to all.
