Little Rock | Arkansas | 2023 | Market Overview Brief

The major players in the Little Rock market are becoming more consolidated as the state slowly transitions to value-based care. Baptist Health maintains a partnership with University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, the state’s only academic medical center. CHI St. Vincent stands to become a stronger competitor following the merger of CHI and Dignity into CommonSpirit Health, which brings national expertise in value-based contracting and a deep financial reserve. Little Rock’s largest physician groups are owned by the largest health systems and lead value-based care initiatives. CHI St. Vincent’s affiliated physician group, Arkansas Health Network, takes on risk through an ACO and recently launched direct contracts with employers. The Arkansas Blue plan leads Little Rock in total enrollment, though Centene’s acquisition of QualChoice and merger with WellCare will give the carrier an enrollment boost. Expect innovation to increase in plan design and care delivery as Little Rock’s players ramp up competition.
