Puerto Rico | 2023 | Health Plan Analysis (Event Driven)

The Affordable Care Act did not require U.S. territories to form or participate in health insurance exchanges, but the ACA is nevertheless reshaping managed care in Puerto Rico. The U.S. territory, located a little more than 1,000 miles from Miami, instead used the federal funding it received through the ACA to expand its Medicaid program. That shift swelled Puerto Rico's Medicaid program to cover more than 45 percent of its population.
