New Jersey | 2023 | Health Plan Analysis (Event Driven)

New Jersey features a state-run exchange using the GetCoveredNJ platform. Horizon BCBS of New Jersey, the state's largest insurer, won an exclusive contract for the New Jersey active employees and retirees. Low- and no-premium Medicare Advantage plans continue to be the most popular choice among seniors in the state. Besides the state-imposed individual mandate and a reinsurance program, increased competition due to the entry of new insurers on the exchange marketplace led to increased enrollment and a decrease in premiums. Exchange premiums are on the rise, however, though subsidies are in play. On the commercial insurance front, tiered-network plans are becoming favored among individuals and employers.
