The 2023 Alterline report, What Students Want and Need, found that 1 in 5 students have opted not to enroll in a course due to the cost of course materials being too high.

This is just one finding among many showing how students are being priced out of higher education. The same Alterline report also showed that most students believe that when the cost for course materials is too high, this has a negative impact on their success.
