What is changing in the new Derwent Innovation?
The new Derwent Innovation represents a redesign of our application’s core functions to improve and enhance the user workflow and search experience. We have re-examined how users perform their patent research and built the new product to bring more ease, efficiency, and confidence to the patent search process. Specifically, the following product areas have been enhanced:
When will my upgrade take place?
You will be notified about your upgrade date by the Derwent team at least 30 days prior to upgrading to the new Derwent Innovation.
What do I need to do to access the new Derwent Innovation?
Nothing – all users associated with your account will automatically upgrade to the new Derwent Innovation user interface on your upgrade date.
What will happen to my saved work such as work files, alerts, saved strategies, ThemeScape maps in my current instance of Derwent Innovation following the upgrade?
Your work will be saved in Derwent Innovation once the upgrade takes place. The changes that are being made are designed to improve your search experience and will enable searching but not affect any saved items.
Will I lose any features in the new Derwent Innovation?
To create a more modern and intuitive user interface, there will be changes to how features and functions operate in the new Derwent Innovation, which means that new features will be added, existing features will be enhanced, and some features will be removed. The user experience is designed to give the expert searcher the flexibility needed to perform complex searches while giving the casual searcher the ability to conduct a comprehensive patent search with ease.
Will I be required to upgrade to the new version of Derwent Innovation? If so, when?
Yes. All customers will be upgraded to the new Derwent Innovation interface starting in Feb 2020 through May. The date for your upgrade will be communicated well in advance, with opportunities to thoroughly review functionality and training. Customers requiring a more tailored and assisted upgrade experience will be able to plan this with their Account Manager and Solution Consultant.
How will I be trained on the new Derwent Innovation?
There will be a variety of training options available to all users. This includes on demand Quick Tour videos, webinars, and in-app help. All resources will significantly improve the customer experience when onboarding to the new Derwent Innovation. Customers requiring a more tailored and assisted upgrade experience can request customized training programs with their Account Manager and Solution Consultant team.
Will the new Derwent Innovation cost more?
No. Access to the new Derwent Innovation and newly added patent content are part of your 2020 license.
As an Account Administrator, is there anything I need to do to upgrade my users?
No. All users associated with your account will automatically upgrade to the new Derwent Innovation user interface on your upgrade date. Unless otherwise specified by your Account Manager, your users will be notified about your upgrade date by the Derwent team 30 days prior to upgrading.
Will my current subscription or account configuration change?
No. Pro, Analyst, Express user levels, and account configurations will remain unchanged.
Will we get different results in the new Derwent Innovation than in the current version?
The search engine remains the same and will produce the same results. You will however, see additional patent content as we continue to expand our patent coverage in 2020.
What browsers will support the new Derwent Innovation?
The new Derwent Innovation will function on the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox, Safari and Edge—IE11 will not be supported in the new Derwent Innovation, and users should plan accordingly.
What Operating Systems support the new Derwent Innovation?
Windows systems (7 and 10) with the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox. We will continue to support OS X.
IP Authenticated users and SSO Users – what do I need to know?
The upgrade process for these users will be the same as named users.
