Clarivate Analytics acquires Publons

As you may have already heard, there’s some exciting news here at Clarivate Analytics – the acquisition of Publons, creator of the leading online global peer-review platform.

The scientific community today faces increasing challenges across the research lifecycle, such as fraudulent peer review, inefficiencies in the review process that slow down research, and difficulties in identifying and understanding top research.

As Andrew Preston, co-founder and Managing Director of Publons, describes in his blog post, he and Daniel Johnston founded Publons with “the core belief that peer review is at the heart of research and that it needs to be recognized as such.” Since its beginning, Publons has made significant progress, collaborating with the research community in addressing these challenges.

The joining of Publons and Clarivate brings together the world’s preeminent citation database and the world’s largest researcher-facing peer-review data and recognition platform – a combination we believe will help address these pressing industry challenges.
