Affiliation Department Standardization and Unification; Open publisher-invited reviews “Quick filter”

Affiliation with Department Standardization

To improve search and discovery, Web of Science is expanding organization unification depth to include ‘departments’ for author affiliations. To do this Web of Science has algorithmically mapped department data indexed in the author affiliations to standardized and unified forms of the department name and included existing organization hierarchies that may not be included in the article’s metadata. With this release ~8500 main/parent organizations will resolve to ~73,000 lower-level organizations. We will continue to expand the department unification for more organization and department in future releases.

Organizations with department will be searchable in the Affiliation field in basic Document Search, or via Advanced Search using the OG= field tag.

To support using this field to Refine or Analyze search results, we’ve kept the Affiliation Refine and Analyze Results that uses main/parent organizations and introduced Refine and Analyze that uses just the Affiliation with Department.

New Quick filter for Open Peer Reviews in Web of Science Core Collection

Peer review is a vital part of researchers’ work, and we want to ensure it receives the recognition it deserves following the addition of Open Peer Review in Web of Science. The Open publisher-invited reviews ‘quick filter’ has now been added to Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). Users can easily filter document results to see only those with open peer reviews invited by publishers, making it easier to discover content or topics, institutions and journals that have the most open peer reviews.

Thank you for your support and feedback. Together we will bring a better Web of Science to all.
