In 2022, sales of branded biologics in ophthalmology exceeded $9.6 billion in the major pharmaceutical markets under study (United States, EU5, and Japan). Throughout our 2022-2032 forecast period, the reference brands Lucentis (ranibizumab) and Eylea (aflibercept) are set to lose patent protection, and biosimilars will enter the market and erode both patient share and drug prices.
