Clarivate Analytics Signs Collaborative Agreement with RISTEKDIKTI to improve research performance in Indonesia

In Indonesia’s pursuit of research excellence, the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of Indonesia (RISTEKDIKTI) has made stunning progress in helping Indonesia’s research to grow exponentially over the past five years. Indonesia’s research output surpassed that of Thailand in 2017, and the country looks to be on track to become the top research producer in ASEAN by 2020.

To support RISTEKDIKTI in the objective of improving the quality and quantity of research output from Indonesia, Clarivate Analytics has embarked on a number of initiatives in collaboration with the ministry, concentrating on building researcher capacity.

On 26 April 2019, Clarivate Analytics and RISTEKDIKTI formalized a collaborative agreement by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the “International Workshop for Journal Editors” at Hotel Grand Mega, Bali, Indonesia.

Jeroen Prinsen, Vice President and Head of ANZSEA, Clarivate Analytics, and Muhammad Dimyati, the Directorate General of Research and Development, RISTEKDIKTI, signed the MoU during the event, witnessed by at least 100 editors and media representatives. The signing of this MoU further solidifies the partnership between both parties in the following areas:

  1. Supporting the integration of Web of Science data into the Science and Technology Index (SINTA) for showcasing Indonesia research institutions and researchers’ publication output and citation impact.
  2. Conducting Web of Science editorial training workshops to help build capacity in support of Indonesia’s goal of increasing its number of journals indexed in Web of Science.
  3. Conducting a Peer Review Academy training program to improve peer-review expertise, and establishing a researcher-editor network for Indonesia’s early-career researchers.
