CSIRO Selects Clarivate Analytics to Power Australia’s Research Discovery

Web of Science citation index will be available to more than 5,000 experts across Australia and overseas

MELBOURNE, July 5, 2018 – The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Australia’s independent federal government agency responsible for scientific research, has selected Web of Science as a key resource for research discovery.  CSIRO is Australia’s catalyst for innovation; collaborating with 3,000 customers each year to innovate and create value to the Australian economy. These include Australian federal, state and local government bodies; small, medium and large businesses; Australian universities and more than 150 international partners.

The unique collection of resources in Web of Science will provide CSIRO’s 5,000 staff with the highest quality metrics for research discovery. The index contains more than 150 million records from 33,000 journals and is the world’s most trusted and largest citation index across the sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities.

Thomas Girke, Senior Manager Information Resources at CSIRO said, “Web of Science supports CSIRO researchers throughout the research lifecycle from planning novel research, to publishing and evaluating impact. Our research is trusted, our discoveries are published in world-leading journals, and we’re in the top one percent in 15 of 22 research fields.”

Jeroen Prinsen, Vice President and Head of Australasia and Southeast Asia at Clarivate Analytics said.

“We are honoured that CSIRO has selected us to once again help their experts find relevant research more effectively. We strongly support the Australian government’s National Innovation and Science Agenda and we will continue to assist CSIRO at the forefront of Australia’s research and innovation as we have been doing for the past few decades.”
