Empowering every voice in the workplace

Ivy Ng from Clarivate Analytics talks about a recent workshop at the Singapore office

Ivy is director of sales and effectiveness for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region at Clarivate Analytics. The region has 300 employees, of which approximately 40 are based in the Singapore office. Ivy also heads up the Women at Clarivate chapter in the APAC region. Women at Clarivate was set up to promote and support women in the workplace across the Clarivate organization.

Since joining Clarivate in 2017, I have experienced the full range of training and development opportunities available to colleagues.

Management encourages us to capitalize on the numerous networking, coaching and mentoring events on offer, all designed to enhance our professional capabilities.

Those professional skills include workplace communication, something that many may feel they need to improve on at some point in their career, as public speaking or presenting can often be a source of anxiety or frustration.

Vocal training workshop offers confidence and fun

So I was delighted to recently have the opportunity to organize an event at our Singapore office. Open to all our colleagues across the region, the focus was on ‘voice and presentation’ training – as well as a bit of fun.The workshop was hosted by  Simon Wong  – well known in Singapore as a voice-over artist for documentaries as well as a voice coach for C-level executives.

Everyone who attended the workshop left feeling much more confident about their public speaking skills and ability to use their voice more effectively in the working environment.

What most people don’t know about Simon is that he also owns a really exciting company called Singapore Sidecars. After the workshop we were privileged to have a fun tour around Singapore in these very cool sidecars.
