A rising star just 2° south of the equator

Before 2014, the University of Rwanda, despite hard work by its researchers, had low visibility as a significant research organization in Africa, with fewer than 50 research publications per year published in the world’s top journals. This minimal profile  was creating obstacles to promoting the university’s brand, to successful grant applications and to acquiring and retaining talent.

  • Now, the University of Rwanda is the second most productive University in East Africa, contributing to Rwanda as a whole being the most research-productive country in East Africa.
