All library patrons, regardless of ability, need access to scholarly information. Clarivate is committed to providing all our users in academia and government with an accessible experience for research, teaching, and learning.

We make every effort to ensure that our platforms – including the Vega discovery service for libraries – can be used by everyone. Vega is continually designed and developed to meet Level AA of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2) and Section 508 of the US Rehabilitation Act for features and functions.

Accessibility features and gaps

Users of Vega Discover should be able to:

• Go directly to the main content areas on the page using skip links.
• Navigate most of the website using a screen reader.
• Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software.
• Navigate page content using headings.
• Adjust color contrast in browser settings.
• Zoom in up to 200% using browser tools without text spilling off the screen.
• Use most websites with devices of different screen sizes and orientations without losing content or functionality.

There may be some parts of this website that are not fully accessible:

• Not all links or controls provide enough information to screen readers to understand their purpose out of context, and some notifications may not be read out to the user automatically.
• Some text and interactive elements throughout the application lack sufficient color contrast.
• Most of the application is keyboard navigable. Some controls may be more difficult to navigate using keyboard and focusable elements may be hidden.
• At magnifications higher than 400% (320px), some content may spill off the screen or overlap.

Compliance level and report

As part of our continuous effort to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 (Level A and AA), we have resolved or are planning to resolve issues identified from customer feedback, internal testing, and external auditing. The status of these issues is listed in the Vega Accessibility Roadmap.

Maintaining Accessibility in Library Customization and Configuration

It is important to note that the accessibility of the end user experience is determined, in part, by the customization and configuration introduced by the library. For example, the base interface was designed to adhere to color contrast requirements for text and interactive elements. However, a library should ensure that the color contrast is maintained once adjusting to their custom theme or branding.

To help customers, we’re providing ongoing recommendations on how to maintain accessibility in Vega customization and configuration.

Accessibility Testing

The accessibility of Vega Discover is a continual effort at Clarivate. Accessibility standards are built into our design, and style guides and included as part of requirements in our software development and quality assurance pipeline.

Vega Discover code is checked for accessibility using a range of automated and manual checks including but not limited to:

• TPGi Color Contrast Analyzer
• Deque axe DevTools accessibility testing tool
• Chrome Developer Tools
• Chrome WCAG Contrast Checker browser extension
• Manual keyboard accessibility testing and assessment
• NVDA screen reader

Vega Discover is tested on the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox and Edge on a Windows computer.

As last full accessibility audit was conducted in spring of 2026 by Deque, a 3rd party testing partner. Accessibility testing is part of our ongoing development lifecycle in addition to annual reviews.

What We’re Doing To Improve Accessibility

Accessibility of our tools and content is an ongoing effort at Clarivate. We’re committed to working with the community to ensure we continue to meet our customers’ needs. Learn more about Accessibility in our Academic and Government Products.

Some of our ongoing efforts includes:

• Maintaining a network of trained accessibility champions, providing knowledge-sharing through the cross-functional Accessibility Council and access to external experts
• Integrating accessibility at the design stage, building accessibility throughout the development lifecycle
• Providing accessibility awareness training for all colleagues, and dedicated training for developers and quality assurance engineers, encouraging team members to pursue certifications
• Accessibility is embedded in our development process. Our acceptance of new features and functionality requires compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA
• Consulting with accessibility experts for ongoing consultation and 3rd party audits
• Growing our accessibility program with dedicated in-house experts, including IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) Certified and DHS Trusted Tester Certified colleagues
• Continuously making improvements to remediate known issues and customer cases
