All library patrons, regardless of ability, need access to information. Clarivate is committed to providing all our users with a fully accessible experience for research, teaching and learning.

At Clarivate, we make every effort to ensure that our platforms – including LX Starter – can be used by everyone. LX Starter is continually designed and developed to meet Level AA of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2).

Users of LX Starter should be able to:

Navigate most of the web application using a keyboard only
Navigate to most of the web application using a screen reader
Go directly to main content areas on the page using skip links
Experience a logical and consistent tab order for majority of the interactive elements

There may be some parts of this website that are not fully accessible:

Most of the text can be magnified up to 200% without loss of functionality. At a zoom level of 400%, most of the content may get lost, overflow, overlap, or become truncated.
Some interface elements lack clear programmatic labels, roles, or values, and lack of association in some content which may hinder assistive technologies from accurately interpreting their function.
Proper semantic HTML elements (e.g., buttons, links, form controls) are not consistently used, increasing reliance on ARIA and reducing overall accessibility robustness
Most links are clear, but some lack sufficient context or descriptive text, making their purpose unclear

Accessibility features and gaps

The Design Email Template feature is provided by Unlayer, a third‑party email design platform. Accessibility support within this component is partially dependent on the third‑party provider. We continue to evaluate and address issues where feasible, but certain limitations may remain outside our direct control. We encourage users to report any accessibility issues, and we will work with the vendor to facilitate improvements where possible.

Email builder accessibility

LX Starter provides tools and backend functionality for libraries to create, configure, and distribute email notices. Because the content and structure of emails are determined by the library, libraries should consider accessibility practices when designing and configuring email notices. For example, providing meaningful alternative text when appropriate, ensuring sufficient color contrast, providing meaningful link text, and testing the resulting email content using accessibility tools before distribution.

Ensure that when designing your notice, you maintain the color contrast requirements.

Text vs. Background: Ensure a contrast ratio of at least:

At least 4.5:1 for normal text
3:1 for large text (18 pt regular or 14 pt bold)
Interactive Components (buttons, icons, form borders, inputs, etc.) — Minimum 3:1 contrast between component and adjacent colors.

How we tested this platform

The accessibility of LX Starter is a continual effort at Clarivate. Accessibility standards are built into our design, and style guides and included as part of requirements in our software development and quality assurance pipeline.

LX Starter code is checked for accessibility using a range of automated and manual checks including but not limited to:

ANDI (Accessible Name & Description Inspector) tool

Keyboard-access manual testing and assessment

LX Starter is tested on the latest versions of Chrome, and Edge, and on a Windows computer.

Accessibility testing is part of our ongoing development lifecycle in addition to annual reviews. The last full accessibility audit was conducted in May 2026. The test was carried out internally at Clarivate.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility at Clarivate

Some of our ongoing efforts includes:

Maintaining a network of trained accessibility champions, providing knowledge-sharing through the cross-functional Accessibility Council and access to external experts
Integrating accessibility at the design stage, building accessibility throughout the development lifecycle
Providing accessibility awareness training for all colleagues, and dedicated training for developers and quality assurance engineers, encouraging team members to pursue certifications
Accessibility is embedded in our development process. Our acceptance of new features and functionality requires compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA

Consulting with accessibility experts for ongoing consultation and 3rd party audits
Growing our accessibility program with dedicated in-house experts, including IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) Certified and DHS Trusted Tester Certified colleagues
Continuously making improvements to remediate known issues and customer cases
Working with our content providers to improve the accessibility of content on our platforms
