Colombian Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 1, 2026
1. Scope
This supplemental Colombian privacy policy (“Colombian Privacy Policy”) describes how Clarivate Plc and our group companies such as ProQuest Colombia (“we”) collect, use and disclose the personal data of eligible Colombian residents under the Statutory Law 1581 of 2012 (“Law 1581, 2012”).
If your personal data is processed in Colombia, the following provisions apply as set out in this Colombian Privacy Policy.
This Colombian Privacy Policy applies to personal data collected by our websites, applications, services and products (collectively “services”), and in the course of routine offline business contact with you. This policy does not apply to the personal data we collect from employees or job applicants.
Any terms defined in Law 1581, 2012 have the same meaning when used in this Colombian Privacy Policy.
If you are not located in Colombia, this Colombian Privacy Policy does not apply to you. Please refer to our Corporate Privacy Notice.
2. Collection and sharing of personal data
Please refer to our Corporate Privacy Notice for a full description of the types of personal data that we collect (see “What types of personal information we process”) and how we share this data with third parties (see “Who will access your personal data”).
Our Corporate Privacy Policy also provides details about Clarivate and ProQuest’s Colombia’s responsibilities when handling your personal data (for example, see “How we secure your personal data”).
3. Purposes for processing your personal data
We may process your personal data on one or more of the following legal basis:
- when necessary to enter into a contract with you or a legal entity you represent, to perform our contractual obligations, to provide Clarivate services, to respond to requests from you, or to provide customer support;
- as necessary to comply with relevant law and legal obligations, including to respond to lawful requests and orders; or
- Personal data may be processed for purposes including providing and managing Clarivate’s products and services, managing customer and business relationships, responding to requests and inquiries, providing customer support, complying with legal and regulatory obligations, protecting the security and integrity of our services, and other purposes described in the Corporate Privacy Policy.
4. Your rights
If you are in Colombia, the rights outlined in our Corporate Privacy Notice (see “Understanding your data rights”) are available to you. In addition to those rights, you have under law 1581, 2012 the right to:
- Update or correct inaccurate, incomplete or misleading data. Except where otherwise permitted by law, ProQuest Colombia will obtain your prior, express and informed consent in order to process your personal data.
- Request evidence of the consent granted.
- File complaints before the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce.
5. Exercising your data subject rights
You can exercise your data subject rights by submitting a request through our webform. The response timeframes are those established in Title V of Law 1581 of 2012. Data subjects may also exercise their rights by contacting the Clarivate Global Data Privacy Office through the contact details provided in this Policy.
If you are located in Colombia you may exercise the following rights, as set out under Article 8 of Law 1581 of 2012:
- (a) to access, update, and rectify your personal data held by ProQuest Colombia;
- (b) to request proof of the authorization granted to ProQuest Colombia, except where such authorization is not required as a condition for the processing of your personal data;
- (c) to be informed by ProQuest Colombia of the use that has been made of your personal data;
- (d) to lodge complaints before the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce for violations of applicable data protection laws;
- (e) to revoke your authorization and/or request the deletion of your personal data where the processing does not respect constitutional and legal principles, rights, and guarantees; and
- (f) to access, free of charge, your personal data
Requests made under the data subject’s rights section of the Law 1581 de 2012 are free of charge.
Note that your rights under the Law 1581 de 2012 are subject to exceptions, as outlined in the Law 1581 de 2012. For example, you can request evidence of the consent provided for processing your data unless an exception to consent applies (e.g. which could be complying with a legal obligation or public data).
While we hope you will reach out to our dedicated team of privacy professionals first, by contacting the area in charge of handling complaints and requests regarding your privacy rights which is the Clarivate Global Data Privacy Office, you also have the right file a complaint with Superintendency of Industry and Commerce through its official channels.
6. Identification of Data Controller
ProQuest Colombia S.A.S., NIT 901237267-6 (“ProQuest Colombia”), is the data controller of your personal data.
Personal data processed in Colombia is subject to Law 1581 of 2012, Decree 1377 of 2013 and other applicable Colombian data protection regulations. In the event of any inconsistency between this Colombian Privacy Policy and applicable Colombian law, the applicable Colombian legal requirements shall prevail with respect to the processing of personal data in Colombia.

7. Transferring your personal data outside of Colombia
Clarivate and ProQuest are a global business, and your data may be transferred to countries with different privacy and data protection laws than your own, including to countries such as the United States. When transferring data across borders, we take measures to comply with applicable data protection laws related to such transfer.
8. Retention
ProQuest Colombia will retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the specific purposes for which it was collected, in accordance with applicable data protection laws and principles. Once such purposes have been fulfilled or are no longer applicable, ProQuest Colombia will proceed to securely delete, anonymize, or otherwise dispose of the personal data, unless a longer retention period is required to comply with legal or regulatory obligations.
The databases containing personal data shall remain in force for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy and for any additional period required under Colombian law.
9. Changes
We reserve the right to change this Colombian Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes to this Colombian Privacy Policy shall be made in accordance with our Corporate Privacy Notice (see “How you will know if we make changes to this policy”).
