Where is the next peak for Kenya?

Africa is here!

Between 2006 and 2016 the number of Highly Cited Papers featuring Africa-based authors increased by 400%, making the percentage of Highly Cited Papers from total productivity similar to or higher than other emerging areas like Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.

Of African nations, Kenya has demonstrated the highest increase in Highly Cited Papers in the last 10 years. However, while Highly Cited Papers do provide insights into national research focus and performance, a nation’s overall output must also be considered in order to ascertain the next steps to overall growth and increase in performance.

In this report, we take a look at the top 10 countries by productivity in Africa, examining what the next peak is for Kenya in its emergence as one of Africa’s leaders in innovation.
