Clarivate Repeats Success in Nobel Prize Predictions with 6 New Laureates Identified by Citation Laureates Program

89 Citation Laureates named by the Institute for Scientific Information have received a Nobel Prize since 2002
London, U.K. October 14, 2025: Clarivate Plc (NYSE:CLVT), a leading global provider of transformative intelligence, today celebrates the continued success of its annual Citation Laureates program, following the accurate identification of 6 Nobel Prize 2025 recipients.
Powered by trusted data from the Web of Science Core Collection, the Citation Laureates program combines rigorous citation analysis with expert insight to recognize researchers whose work is of Nobel class. Since 2002, 89 Citation Laureates named by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) at Clarivate have gone on to receive Nobel Prizes, affirming the program’s reliability as an indicator of global research excellence.
Citation Laureates are selected from a global pool of researchers whose foundational papers are among the most highly cited – typically in the top 0.02% worldwide, with more than 2,000 citations. This evidence-based approach recognizes those whose influence extends beyond academia to deliver real-world benefits.
The 2025 Nobel Prize announcements once again affirm the power of the Citation Laureates program. This year’s Nobel laureates previously identified as Citation Laureates by Clarivate are:
- Shimon Sakaguchi, Osaka University: Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for discoveries concerning peripheral immune tolerance, named a Citation Laureate in 2015.
- Susumu Kitagawa, Kyoto University, and Omar M. Yaghi, University of California, Berkeley: Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the development of metal-organic frameworks, named Citation Laureates in 2010.
- Joel Mokyr, Northwestern University, Philippe Aghion, Collège de France, INSEAD, and the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Peter Howitt, Brown University: Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel for advancing understanding of innovation-driven economic growth; Mokyr named a Citation Laureate in 2021, Aghion and Howitt in 2014.
Emmanuel Thiveaud, Senior Vice President, Research and Analytics, Academia & Government at Clarivate said: “Accurately identifying future Nobel laureates is a complex challenge, but this year’s Nobel Prizes once again affirm the strength of our approach.
