Introduction
All researchers, regardless of ability, need access to scholarly information. Clarivate is committed to providing all our users with a fully accessible experience for research, teaching, and learning.
At Clarivate, we make every effort to ensure that our platforms – including Esploro – can be used by everyone. Esploro is continually designed and developed to meet Level AA of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2).
Users of Esploro should be able to:
- Navigate most of the web application using a keyboard only
- Navigate to most of the web application using a screen reader
- Experience a logical and consistent tab order for majority of the interactive elements
- The name, role, state, and value of most user interface components can be programmatically determined.
- Customize color settings to enhance visual accessibility and select the most suitable contrast.
There may be some parts of this website that are not fully accessible:
- At a zoom level of 400%, some content may overflow, overlap, or become truncated.
- Although Esploro is responsive, it is not fully optimized for use on smartphones.
- Skip to main content link is missing, but custom focus behavior helps users reach key form fields directly, reducing the need to navigate repetitive content.
- Some interface elements lack clear programmatic labels, roles, or values, which may hinder assistive technologies from accurately interpreting their function.
Accessibility features and gaps
Content accessibility
The Esploro portal provides access to the research and creative output of the institution’s faculty, students and staff. Researchers can contribute to the portal with research papers, theses, dissertations, books, reports, interviews, and datasets. Esploro does not control the accessibility of the content contributed by researchers. We encourage researchers to upload accessible content to Esploro, and to include links to accessible materials to ensure accessibility for all.
