Introduction
All students, regardless of ability, need access to University resources and information. Clarivate is committed to providing all our users with a fully accessible experience for research, teaching and learning.
We make every effort to ensure that our platforms – including campusM – can be used by everyone. campusM is continually designed and developed to meet Level AA of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2) and Section 508 of the US Rehabilitation Act for features and functions.
The purpose of this document
This document illustrates the current status of campusM compliance with WCAG 2.2AA.
Accessibility features and gaps for WCAG 2.2AA
campusM Users should be able to:
- Navigate most of the web application using a keyboard only
- Navigate most of the web and native application using a screen reader
- Zoom in up to 200% using browser and native devices tools without losing any text
- Control the density of the display across the system
There may be some parts of this web application that are not fully accessible:
- A small number of features are challenging to navigate using just a keyboard, all the main features and scenarios are available using keyboard only.
- Some pages lack proper heading structure and semantic markup
- Users relying on TalkBack were unable to access or interact with certain content within the application
- Some areas of the application lack sufficient color contrast between text and background
- The application does not support landscape orientation

This application is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines v2.2 AA standard. The campusM team is continually addressing major accessibility issues as part of our annual audit and fix cycle.

Accessibility of this platform
Clarivate is committed to providing all our reading list users with an accessible experience, regardless of their ability.
Main accessibility emphasis
- Semantic HTML structure supports the Tab keyboard key, enabling both mobile and desktop users to navigate to page content.
- All links and buttons are accessible through keyboard keys and a mouse.
- Forms are accessible they keyboard keys and screen readers.
- Using Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA) attributes for angular-based application, campusM provides screen readers with descriptions of actions performed on the screen and the roles of buttons or objects on the page.
- campusM supports zooming in up to 200% using browser tools, without losing any text or functionality.
- Alternative content: All images and buttons have alternative content for screen-reader users, enabling specific descriptions for non-textual elements.
Accessibility testing
The accessibility of campusM is a continual effort at Clarivate. Accessibility standards are built into our design, and style guides and included as part of requirements in our software development and quality assurance pipeline.
campusM code is checked for accessibility using a range of automated and manual checks including but not limited to:
- Color Contrast Analyzer provided by WebAIM
- Deque aXe accessibility testing tool
- High Contrast Chrome extension
- Keyboard-access manual testing and assessment
- WAVE (Web Accessibility Evaluation tool) provided by WebAIM
- JAWS with Windows
campusM is tested on the latest version Firefox, Chrome, and Edge, and on devices including Windows computers.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
Accessibility of our tools and content is an ongoing effort at Clarivate. We’re committed to working with the community to ensure we continue to meet our customers’ needs. Learn more about Accessibility in our Academic and Government Products
Some of our ongoing efforts includes:
- Maintaining a network of trained accessibility champions, providing knowledge-sharing through the cross-functional Accessibility Council and access to external experts
- Integrating accessibility at the design stage, building accessibility throughout the development lifecycle
- Providing accessibility awareness training for all colleagues, and dedicated training for developers and quality assurance engineers, encouraging team members to pursue certifications
- Accessibility is embedded in our development process. Our acceptance of new features and functionality requires compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA
- Consulting with accessibility experts for ongoing consultation and 3rd party audits
- Continuously making improvements to remediate known issues and customer cases
