Clarivate Selected by University of Texas at Dallas Libraries to Provide Alma Specto

Alma Specto, an AI-native digital collection and exhibition platform offers UT Dallas Libraries a scalable, flexible and future-ready solution, expanding the reach of its Special Collections to new audiences

London, U.K. March 30, 2026: Clarivate Plc (NYSE:CLVT), a leading global provider of transformative intelligence, announced today that the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) Libraries has adopted Alma Specto as their new digital collection and exhibition platform, after serving as a year-long development partner.

UT Dallas is a top public university in the U.S, serving over 30,000 students across seven schools. Within the institution, UT Dallas Libraries’ Special Collections is home to a vast range of special collections, including the second-largest aviation archive in the United States. UT Dallas Libraries aims to elevate the visibility of the University’s unique collections, while engaging with broader audiences, including alumni, donors, researchers and community users who may not traditionally engage with the library.

However, extracting and managing metadata for thousands of digitized images, documents and audiovisual files has long posed a significant challenge. Alma Specto offers UT Dallas Libraries a scalable, flexible and future-ready platform that addresses this challenge and enables the Libraries’ digital treasures to be shared with the broader public, and in doing so, help advance its long-term digital strategy.

Dr. Misu Kim, Assistant Library Director for Technical Services at UT Dallas Libraries said: “A key factor in selecting Alma Specto was its AI Digital Metadata Assistant and entity-management features, which streamlines staff workflows, improves metadata accuracy and supports interoperability across systems. This workflow automatically produces high-quality metadata that is fully prepared for future linked-data environments, ensuring long-term discoverability for our digital assets across broader global ecosystems.”

Yoel Goldenberg, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Library Software at Clarivate said: “We are pleased to partner with UT Dallas Libraries, supporting them with developing and advancing innovative and future-ready digital collections. We will continue to leverage cutting edge AI to empower our customers to discover new possibilities in teaching, research and engagement.”

Beyond metadata innovation, expanding its digital reach and audience engagement are UT Dallas Libraries’ central priorities. The Exhibition Builder feature in Alma Specto will enable UT Dallas Libraries to present its unique collections in dynamic, interactive and visually compelling ways, enriching how users discover and experience the collections, and engaging new audiences.

Dr. Ellen D. Safley, Dean of UT Dallas Libraries, said: “UT Dallas, founded as the Graduate Research Center of the Southwest, has always been defined by a deep commitment to research and a vibrant culture of inquiry. Alma Specto builds on our legacy by offering a platform designed for the next era of digital scholarship. We believe Alma Specto will give us the ability to preserve, connect and showcase our collections in ways that honor our history while advancing our vision for the future.”
