2020 Eugene Garfield Award for Innovation in Citation Analysis

Overview 

Dr. Eugene Garfield pioneered the practice of citation analysis and infometrics, developing numerous citation databases, including the Web of Science™, that changed how scientists find and assess scholarly literature.

Launched in 2017, the Eugene Garfield Award for Innovation in Citation Analysis recognizes early-career scientists working on innovative approaches in citation analysis. The purpose of the award is to help nurture the careers of outstanding investigators in the field of scientometrics who will improve how we measure the impact of scientific research.

Eligibility 

To be eligible, you must be an early career researcher: No more than PhD + 10 years at the time of application.

About the Award 

The award amount is $25k USD, paid in a single instalment.

In addition to the award, Clarivate provides the successful applicant with research access to a selection of the Web of Science data.

A review committee evaluates applications for novelty, utility and innovation, and announces the winner publicly in September/October each year.

Application packages must be submitted via email to GarfieldAward@clarivate.com by 11:00 pm US Eastern Daylight time Wednesday September 30, 2020.

The award winner will be notified by October 19, 2020.
