Osteoarthritic (OA) pain is a prevalent subtype of chronic pain, affecting more than 43 million individuals in the EU5. OA pain treatment decisions are driven primarily by rheumatologists, orthopedics (in Germany), and pain specialists while general practitioners play an important role in long-term disease management. A variety of analgesic drug classes, containing both branded and generic agents, as well as surgical interventions are available for the treatment of OA pain.
