Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Antibody-Associated Disease – Current Treatment – Treatment Algorithms: Claims Data Analysis – Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Antibody-Associated Disease (US)

Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Antibody-Associated Disease (MOGAAD) is a rare autoimmune inflammatory CNS disorder defined by IgG antibodies targeting the myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein. Its pathophysiology centers on antibody-mediated attacks against the myelin sheath, triggering acute demyelinating events that commonly present as bilateral optic neuritis, transverse myelitis, or pediatric acute disseminated encephalomyelitis. The current treatment landscape relies on off-label interventions. Acute attacks are managed with high-dose corticosteroids or plasma exchange, while relapsing cases are typically treated with maintenance immunosuppressants like rituximab, IVIG, or mycophenolate mofetil. A critical unmet need exists for FDA-approved, disease-specific therapies as well as biomarkers to predict which patients will remain monophasic versus those who require lifelong immunotherapy.

  • How are tocilizumab and rituximab integrated into the treatment algorithm, and what is their source of business?
  • What percentage of MOGAAD patients receive drug therapy within one year of diagnosis, and how quickly? What percentage of patients progress to later lines of therapy within one year of diagnosis?
  • What percentage of MOGAAD patients are treated with monotherapy vs. combination therapy? What are the most commonly used combinations?
  • What are the product-level compliance and persistency rates among drug-treated patients?
