Introduction
Governing bodies require documentation of library holdings in support of the proposed program. This includes a qualitative assessment and an estimate of need. Percent of core holdings can provide one measure of quality, and cost of core titles not currently in the library’s collection provides an easy estimate of need. Users can use BBAS TO help make an assessment on whether to repair binding, replace, keep or discard certain titles in their catalog. BBAS allows librarians to identify core titles and indicates whether the library already owns them or not.
Accessibility features and gaps
Users of BBAS should be able to:
- Navigate most of the website using just a keyboard.
- Perform a search and navigate the results using a screen reader or keyboard.
- Update administrator and user data using a screen reader or keyboard.
- Listen to most of the website using a screen reader.
- Zoom in up to 300% using browser tools without text spilling off screen.
There may be some parts of this website that are not fully accessible:
- There are some tables that a user will need to scroll left and right when using a small tablet or mobile device.
- On the Percentage of Core Lists Selected page, under Filter Comparison, the input text fields for year from and year to are simply labeled as year.
- Some buttons for expanding and contracting a list may be positioned too close to each other to easily operate with touch screen devices.
If you have a disability and need to make your computer, tablet or other device easier to use, AbilityNet is a recommended resource. We also recommend browsing free add-ons offered for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

If color contrast is a concern for you, we recommend using of the free browser plugins that can increase text/background color contrast, such as the High Contrast extension for Google Chrome.

Reflow
On Percentages of Core Lists Selected, there is a table that is not optimized for small devices and you must scroll left and right to see all the tables columns.
Checkboxes
Some checkboxes under the More Options menu may not be read properly by some screen readers.
Text Links
A few links are not easily identified and use vague wording such as “click here”.
Radio buttons
Some radio button sets, and arrows may not have enough spacing to easily make a selection on a touch interface (i.e. tablet).
