New WOS June 30th Release Notes

New search dates, Citation Report, and BIOSIS now available

In this release, we added two highly requested functionalities to our search suite: the ability to search by Publication date and by Index date (year, month and day). Both these fields are present in the Document and Advanced search. These functionalities replace and enhance the Classic WOS Timespan, bringing more flexibility and transparency to the search.

Also, we expanded our analytics offering with the New WOS Citation Report. This report is typically to evaluate candidates for jobs, promotions, and funding by calculating a series of standardized metrics based on their publication record. In this first iteration of the Citation Report, we made the following enhancements:

  • A new complete view of publications and citations in a single graph
  • More publications listed per page (increase from 10 records to up to 50 per page) making the h-index line more visible for most authors
  • More sort options that allow the user to sort by the same options available for search results
  • User experience improvements making it easier to delete records from the result set

We continue to add more content with each monthly release. In June, we have added the BIOSIS family of products (BIOSIS Citation Index, Biological Abstracts, and BIOSIS Previews).  Users can now search all the existing fields and view the full record page to access the collection-specific data with accompanying one-click searches such as Major Concepts, Concept Codes, and taxonomic data.
