Myasthenia Gravis – Current Treatment – Treatment Algorithms: Claims Data Analysis – Myasthenia Gravis (US)

Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a rare neuromuscular disorder caused by autoantibodies at the neuromuscular junction. It leads to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatigue. Standard treatments include acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, corticosteroids, and immunosuppressants such as mycophenolate mofetil and azathioprine. Since the 2017 launch of eculizumab (Soliris, biosimilars), new therapies, with differentiated mechanisms of action, have begun reshaping MG care. FDA approvals include efgartigimod alfa (Vyvgart) in 2021 and its subcutaneous form (Vyvgart Hytrulo) in 2023, ravulizumab (Ultomiris) in 2022, rozanolixizumab (Rystiggo) and zilucoplan (Zilbrysq) in 2023, and nipocalimab (Imaavy) in 2025. In the context of this evolving landscape, this report uses real-world claims data to illustrate prescribing trends and support emerging drug developers in identifying market opportunities.
