Genomic aberration status, histology, performance status, and stage of disease are key factors that influence the treatment of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The characterization of biomarker-defined patient populations and the FDA and EC approval of a number targeted therapies in 2015 have positioned NSCLC at the forefront of personalized medicine in oncology, and have resulted in an evolving treatment landscape for the disease.
