Hypertension remains the most prevalent and clinically significant modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Treatment typically begins with firstline therapies centered around longestablished, widely genericized drug classes—RAAS inhibitors (ACE inhibitors or ARBs), CCBs, and thiazidetype diuretics. If blood pressure remains above target, therapy is intensified stepwise with additional agents.
