What happens after you fill out the census?
Participating in the Census allows an accurate view of your organization—not only in how Managed Care Organizations are represented within our products, but also in the analysis on individual markets and the players within them. We will help you ensure that you are represented as you should be and are associated to each geographic market component in which you have an impact.
Your participation is vital, and in our effort to continue to strengthen our relationship, we have developed a sampling of our Market Intelligence products for your involvement in the Census process:
- For providing state level data you will receive a sample that includes a payer directory and state level reported Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid enrollment totals.
- For providing county level medical enrollment you will receive a sample that calculates your county level market share in each county that you reported fully insured medical enrollment for.

The analyst assigned to your company is available to help answer questions. Simply reply to the census invitation email to contact your analyst. If you didn’t receive or can’t find the invitation email, click here to send a question to our analyst team.
The census process occurs every January and July.
Enrollment numbers, pharmacy benefit data and general company information. All data should be as of July 1, 2026 for the July 2026 census.
For the July 2026 census, we ask that health insurance exchange (HIX) enrollment data include premium paid HIX enrollment as of July 1, 2026. Include all “On-Exchange” Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Catastrophic individual marketplace, and Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) plans, as well as CDHP HIX enrollment.
Download the commercial plan spreadsheet or copy raw data pulls into a separate excel for convenience. Email the file[s] to the analyst who sent your census invite, or send them to census@clarivate.com.
Once you complete the Census, you can receive a sampling of HLI Market Intelligence products. Based upon your level of participation, you gain access to a variety of detailed state or county level insights into your unique market.
This is a great opportunity for you to “tell your story” and highlight your organization’s capabilities. Just let us know who else we should talk to—and please feel free to send us relevant updates so we can review them for inclusion in our reporting.
Our goal is to capture how a person is primarily receiving their full medical or pharmacy benefit. We aim to prevent double counting a person’s representation across lines of business, programs, and payers by excluding supplemental insurances, vision benefits, dental benefits, secondary payers, rental network, or third-party admin services (TPA).
Please let us know if you plan to include any requested exclusions in your response.
