Optimizing care for COPD patients
A history of COPD exacerbation is a strong predictor of future risk of exacerbation. COPD exacerbation is treated with oral corticosteroids (OCSs) +/- antibiotics. A Clarivate client came to us to help optimize patient care by escalating treatment and/or accelerating referrals, in accordance with NATIONAL clinical guidelines.
We conducted a digital messaging campaign within different points of the EHR workflow, to identify COPD patients on dual therapies who are at increased risk of exacerbations. Messages were delivered in both the consultation and prescription screens of the EHR when a patient had a recorded diagnosis of COPD and at least one prescription of COPD dual therapy and an oral corticosteroid.
