As many as seven patient-centered medical home projects have cropped up throughout Ohio with CareSource working with providers on a Medicaid-focused PCMH. A medical-home initiative in Cincinnati includes UnitedHealthcare, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Humana, while another in Cleveland involves MetroHealth System, the safety net hospital. Health plans are targeting the market dominance of Anthem BC/BS in Indiana through separate initiatives – Humana has a marketing alliance with Southeastern Indiana Health Organization in Columbus while Advantage Health Solutions is offering discounted health plan options to all six counties in Hamilton County near Indianapolis. The Medicare private fee-for-service segment, which has seen some success throughout Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana, is in for change with new rules calling for vendors to develop network-based designs for seniors come 2011, except in counties in which there is only one PFFS offering. WellPoint Inc. has turned an e-prescribing pilot program in Dayton that lapsed with the closing of a General Motors plant into a larger electronic medical records initiative with Kettering Health Network.
