Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is the most common form of adult leukemia and has the lowest five-year overall survival rates of all blood cancers. Historically, the treatment of AML in China is managed with chemotherapy; however, the approvals of Celgene’s Vidaza (azacitidine) in 2017, Venclexta (venetoclax) and Xospata (gilteritinib) in 2021, and the expected approvals of several therapies available in Western markets during the forecast period will transform the AML treatment landscape in China. The entry of novel agents into the treatment paradigm will enable increasingly personalized treatment, but several areas of unmet need will remain.
