The Web of Science™ Publisher Portal is a journal submission platform for journal publishers. The Web of Science Publisher Portal allows publishers to log in and submit a journal for evaluation and inclusion in the Web of Science Core Collection™ as well as viewing the status of submissions at any time.

The Web of Science Publisher Portal dashboard will display the status of a publisher’s journals currently pending or under evaluation, including new submissions and re-evaluations. Through the Portal, publishers can follow the progress of their evaluations and be notified when an editorial decision has been made. The Web of Science Publisher Portal allows visibility across all journals by the same publisher, therefore only publishers are granted access.

For each submitted journal, the publisher dashboard will display the journal name, date of submission via the Web of Science Publisher Portal, and evaluation status – set to one of the following:

  • Pending: Submission is pending receipt by Editorial team
  • Under Evaluation: Submission is being evaluated by Editorial team
  • Accepted: Submission has been accepted for inclusion in the Web of Science
  • Rejected: Submission has been rejected for inclusion in the Web of Science
  • No Change: No change in product after re-evaluation

Only publishers are granted access to the Publisher Portal. Access requests should not be sent by individual journal editors, editorial board members, or members of the research community. All access requests undergo a verification process to ensure only publishers have access and can submit their journals for evaluation.

If you are a journal editor and wish to submit your journal for evaluation, please contact your publisher regarding submission through the Publisher Portal.

If you are the editor / primary contact for a self-published journal, you will be granted access to the Publisher Portal to submit your journal.

Yes. However, the content displayed in your Web of Science Publisher Portal dashboard will be limited at this time.

Yes. The revised submission policy states that only publishers may submit their journals (not journal editors or third parties) and all submissions must be made through the Publisher Portal.

If you are the editor / primary contact for a self-published journal, you will be granted access to the Publisher Portal to submit your journal.

The journal submission form on the Web of Science Publisher Portal provides immediate feedback on a journal’s eligibility against our Initial Triage criteria, therefore it helps ensure that the journal is not rejected unnecessarily. To learn more about the Web of Science Journal Evaluation Process and Selection Criteria, please visit our website.

The Web of Science Publisher Portal allows Publishers to submit their journals in an organized and secure way, it also ensures that publishers have full control over the submission of their journals as only publishers can submit them.

The journal submission form on the Web of Science Publisher Portal provides immediate feedback on a journal’s eligibility against our Initial Triage criteria, therefore it helps ensure that the journal is not rejected unnecessarily and that only journals that meet the minimum criteria are received by the Editorial Team, which streamlines the internal processes. Publishers also receive acknowledgement of their submissions and can view the status of previous submissions on the Portal.

The Web of Science Publisher Portal is a free tool for publishers, there are no fees associated with obtaining a Publisher Portal account or getting a journal evaluated.

There is no minimum publication volume for a journal to be eligible for evaluation. However, evaluations can only be performed on journals that have published a body of work that accurately represents the full scope of that journal.

We currently are unable to receive hardcopy for new Web of Science journal evaluations in order to support our move to a digital workplace and to minimize the environmental impact on our global operations, therefore we are not accepting evaluation requests from print-only journals at the moment. We continue working to develop systems that allow us to receive digital copies of print journals, more information on this initiative will be shared in due course.

If the previous owner submitted the journal using the Master Journal List™ submission form you will need to re-submit the journal via the Web of Science Publisher Portal. If the original submission was made through the Publisher Portal, please contact the Web of Science Support Team and we will update the publisher information. The ability to view journals already covered in the Web of Science Core Collection is not available yet in the Web of Science Publisher Portal.

If you previously used the Journal Submission Form on the Master Journal List to submit a journal and have not received a decision regarding inclusion in the Web of Science Core Collection by the end of May, the journal will have to be re-submitted through the Web of Science Publisher Portal once it is re-opened in August. Please remember that only publishers can submit journals through the portal.

The Journal Submission Form on the Master Journal List did not collect all the information needed for efficient editorial evaluation and did not filter out inappropriate submission requests. We appreciate that having to re-submit through the Publisher Portal may cause some inconvenience, but it offers several advantages. First, publishers can prioritize the order in which they re-submit their journals, and that will reflect on the order in which the Editorial Team will evaluate them. Please keep in mind that timings may vary depending on the individual editor’s priorities and workload. Additionally, the migration to the Publisher Portal ensures that, going forward, the editorial team will only receive valid submissions of journals sent by representatives of their legal owners (i.e., their publishers) and invalid or incomplete submissions will not interfere in the editorial team’s workflows. This will substantially improve the efficiency of the evaluation process, which clearly benefits publishers, authors and the community of users of the Web of Science overall.

Instructions on how to register for a Web of Science Publisher Portal account will be provided soon for all publishers who do not already have an account.
