Ryan Beardsley
Lead Data Scientist
Ryan Beardsley is a Lead Data Scientist at the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI), where he develops analytical approaches for understanding research activity, collaboration and impact. His work draws on expertise in bibliometrics, research intelligence, network science, responsible research assessment and AI-enabled analytics. Prior to joining ISI, Ryan spent several years in Clarivate’s Academic & Government Consulting team, helping government ministries, funding agencies, academic institutions and corporates with research strategy and evaluation. Alongside his client work, he led the consulting team’s research and development activities and cloud-based analytical infrastructure.
Ryan’s academic background is in condensed matter physics, where he worked in the UK and Japan conducting research in both fundamental physics and emerging quantum technologies. His research was recognised among the Institute of Physics’ top five global breakthroughs, and he served as Principal Investigator on research grants funded by EPSRC and JSPS.
