Every two months, Essential Science Indicators from Clarivate Analytics is updated. At each update, we look at New Hot Papers, which are papers published in the past two years that are in the top one-tenth of one percent (0.1%) for their field and publication period.
For the second bimonthly update of 2018, which was published in July and covers 1 January 2008 to 30 April 2018, there were a total of 2,960 Hot Papers. Of these, 1,791 papers were not Hot Papers in the previous update.
