Editorial Team

Dr Nandita Quaderi, Editor-in-Chief and VP Editorial, Web of Science

Nandita leads the Web of Science™ editorial team. She has overall responsibility for setting editorial strategy and for the policy and practices governing the selection process for the Web of Science.

Nandita joined Clarivate Analytics in 2018 as Editor-in-Chief of Web of Science. Prior to joining Clarivate, Nandita was Publishing Director for Open Research at Springer Nature where she was responsible for the portfolio of open access Nature Research journals. Before this, she was Editorial Director at BMC, a pioneer in open access publishing.

Before joining the STM publishing sector, Nandita was a Principal Investigator at the MRC Centre for Developmental Neurobiology at King’s College London. She joined King’s after completing a post-doctoral fellowship at the Telethon Institute for Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM) in Milan, where she discovered the gene for Opitz Syndrome. Nandita has a BA in Chemistry from the University of Oxford and a PhD in Molecular Genetics from Imperial College, London.

Marie McVeigh, Head of Editorial Integrity, Web of Science

Marie ensures the selection and curation of Web of Science content is completed rigorously and consistently; by day, she investigates ethical questions on content, publishing and citation metrics. By night, she is a Citation Ninja.

Marie joined Clarivate in 2017 as part of the development team for Journal Citation Reports™ and has recently moved to the editorial team to extend a career-long interest in bibliographic and bibliometric research for the maintenance of the integrity of the scholarly record as reflected in the Web of Science resources.

Prior to Clarivate, she had roles in primary publishing, in A&I Analytics providers, and in author services, but her career began at the Institute for Scientific Information™ (ISI) as the Life Sciences Selections Editor. She participated in the first launch of Web of Science, led production and development of the Journal Citation Reports™ annual data, and the surveillance and review of citation metrics. At ISI, she studied under Dr Eugene Garfield and continues active research in bibliometrics, ethics in publishing and citation metrics, and the scholarly value of citation indexing.

Anna Treadway, Executive Editor, Web of Science

Anna’s responsibilities include management of the Web of Science Editors to define best practice, implement standard operating procedures and to promote unity across the global editorial team.

Anna joined Clarivate Analytics in 2019 as Executive Editor of Web of Science. Prior to joining Clarivate, Anna was Head of multidisciplinary open access journal Scientific Reports and the BMC Series of open access journals at Springer Nature. While there, Anna also spent time leading the broad scope humanities and social science journal Palgrave Communications, clinical trial registry ISRCTN and the open access journals supplements programme. Before this, Anna spent 10 years at Informa, joining as part of the acquisition of the Expert Opinion series of review journals on which she had started her publishing career as Commissioning Editor in 2002. At Informa, Anna progressed to Publishing Director for ~180 proprietary and society owned journals, via roles as Managing Editor and Publisher.

Anna has a BSc in Biochemistry with Molecular Biology from the University of Leeds and is studying for an MBA with the Open University.

Esheeta Mangalpara, Deputy Executive Editor, Web of Science

Esheeta’s responsibilities include management of the Web of Science editors to ensure consistent application of editorial policies, as well as managing workloads and priorities across the global editorial team.

Esheeta joined Clarivate Analytics in 2020 as Deputy Executive Editor of Web of Science. Prior to joining Clarivate Analytics, Esheeta was the Peer Review Process Manager of multidisciplinary open access journal Scientific Reports and the BMC Series of open access journals at Springer Nature.

Esheeta also held several other Editorial Operations roles in her 6 years at Springer Nature, leading strategic editorial and technology projects to optimise processes and implement new policies, primarily for journals within the Medical and Life Sciences portfolio, as well as the Physical Sciences, Mathematics and Engineering portfolio.

Esheeta has a BSc in Biomedical Sciences from Brunel University London and completed a Continuing Professional Development programme in Biomedical Sciences at Aston University.

Aina Borras, Head of Editorial Systems, Web of Science

Aina is leading the effort to define the internal technology platforms needed to support Web of Science editors make objective, data-driven decisions and work as efficiently as possible.

Aina joined Clarivate Analytics in 2016 as a Web of Science Editor. Prior to joining Clarivate Analytics, Aina was a PhD student in Data Visualisation at the University of Barcelona; she is still working towards her PhD in her spare time. Before this, she was a Digital Content Manager in a variety of academic, governmental and commercial settings including Barcelona University (GRACMON), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya Library, Barcelona City Council Library, the Instituto Cervantes Library in Chicago, the Department of the Environment of the Balearic Isles, the Balearic Islands Television Archive and The Line Between in New York.

Aina graduated with a degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Barcelona and has a Masters degree in Digital Content Management from the University Pompeu Fabra.

Dr Mireia Guardingo, Head of Editorial Outreach, Web of Science

Mireia is responsible for ensuring our editorial policies, selection process and evaluation criteria are clearly understood.

Mireia joined Clarivate in 2020 as Head of Editorial Outreach. Before joining Clarivate, Mireia was Knowledge Management Technician at the Bellvitge Institute of Biomedical Research (IDIBELL) where she managed the institute’s research activity information. Prior to her time at IDIBELL she held several editorial roles at the open access publisher MDPI, she was part of the editorial team of the journal Molecules and Managing Editor of the International Journal of Turbomachinery, Propulsion and Power. She also represented the company at scientific events and coordinated editorial activities between the company’s offices in China and teams in Barcelona.

Mireia holds a degree in Chemistry from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and a PhD in Chemistry from the same university and the Catalan Institute on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2).

Matt Rice, Editorial Manager, Books & Conference Proceedings, Web of Science

Matt leads the Web of Science book and conference proceedings selection team, developing policy and workflows to ensure consistent and efficient content selection.

Matt became Editorial Manager, Books & Proceedings, in 2019. Matt joined Clarivate (then Thomson Reuters) in 2010 as Publisher Liaison, and was instrumental in the launch of the Book Citation Index (BKCI). Matt also previously worked on both the editorial and production sides of journal publishing at Taylor & Francis.

Matt holds a degree in history, and received a Masters of Information & Library Science from Drexel University in 2013.
