New WOS September 29 Release Notes

Patent-to-article citations now in the Web of Science Core Collection, new Citation Topics feature, new Profile setting, Profile CV download, and Profile reviews by year option.

Patent to article citations in the Web of Science Core Collection

Patent-to-article citation count is now available in the Web of Science Core Collection.

In the ‘Times Cited in All Databases’ citation breakdown, the Derwent Innovations Index (the patent collection) citation count represents patent citations.

On click, users will be taken to a summary view of citing patents. The same patent citation count data is available for Core Collection records viewed in an All Databases search.

Researcher Profile Settings: Hiding organization history

Web of Science Researcher profile owners may hide/display organization history data on demand. On the profile settings modal, under the Edit Profile tab, users will find the “Organization history” subsection. Using the toggle, the information can be displayed/hidden on the researcher profile page.

Please note, the organization history data is different from the primary organization.

Researcher Profiles: Reviews per year

The Reviews graph, which is visible on Web of Science Researcher Profile dashboards, can now be configured to display counts of reviews by year, as well as by month.

Perform more granular document search with Citation Topics in the Web of Science Core Collection

Web of Science Core Collection users can now further refine their document search by making use of newly added Meso-level Citation topics from InCites. Citation topics are an algorithmically generated hierarchical classification assigned to each document based on their cited and citing relationships. Approximately 75% of all documents from 1980 onward are assigned to a topic. In this release Meso level citation topics are added as a refinement option in the document results page while Macro, Meso and Micro citation topics are displayed in the article Full Record page.

  • Refine by Meso-level Citation Topics in summary page:

  • View hierarchical citation topic in Article full record page under the Categories/Classifications section:

Please note that each document will only be assigned one citation topic from each level (Macro/Meso/Micro)

  • On clicking on a citation topic from the article full record, users will be able to find more matching records for the same citation topic in the search results page.

Researcher Profile CV download now available

Web of Science Researcher Profile CV export via direct download is now available. Users may choose between emailing or downloading the CVs in PDF or JSON format. Please note, the CV generation may take up to 1-2 minutes. Please don’t navigate away from this page until download is completed.
