New WOS January 6 Release Notes

Sunset of Web of Science Classic, full support for rerun of classic Searches.

Sunset of Web of Science classic

On 6th January 2022 the link to the Classic Web of Science in the header bar of the new site will be removed. Additionally, we will put redirects on all direct links into the Classic Web of Science platform so that it will no longer be accessible.

All account information, saved settings, and saved searches and alerts are already available in the new version of Web of Science, so users do not need to take any action to ensure a seamless transition.

We have been listening to your feedback and have added the most requested features to the new version of Web of Science. Recently, we have:

  • Added Export functions
  • Enhanced author records
  • Added structure search
  • Added the ability to search specific editions and timespan
  • Ability to easily create set combinations
  • Support for rerunning classic saved searches (show all sets)
  • Personalized settings (coming soon)

Display of all saved search sets after rerunning “classic” search alert

Saved searches from Web of Science classic can contain up to 40 search sets. After rerunning a classic saved search from the Alerts management page, the History page will now show all the saved search sets.

Thank you for your support and feedback. Together we will bring a better Web of Science to all.
