Implementing a patient access career ladder to promote staff development and retention

To increase staff engagement and retention, Renown Health implemented a front-end career ladder for scheduling, registration, insurance verification, pre-auth, and patient financial assistance staff.

This three-tier career ladder outlines a variety of development programs, shadowing opportunities, and competency tests that staff must complete to advance. The last level encourages development outside of a staff member’s primary workflow and also seeks to advance individuals’ emotional intelligence.
