New Mexico | 2023 | Health Plan Analysis (Event Driven)

New Mexico's health insurance sector is undergoing a period of broad changes, with significant carrier exits and entrances in both the health insurance exchange and Medicaid markets upending enrollments there. Residents in the state will again have a host of carriers to choose from on the exchange. The state is working on the next version of the state's managed Medicaid program, now called Centennial Care 2.0 but transitioning to Turquoise Care, with new contracts to take hold. A new law, HB 285, permits the sale of short-term health insurance, which could impact some of the commercial sector's enrollment as well as contribute to churn between the state's commercial, Medicaid, and uninsured sectors.
