Overall commercial enrollment in North Dakota has seen a little downside due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The job market dynamics indicate managed care organizations will continue to see room for growth, although large, well-entrenched carriers with broad provider networks will likely be the primary beneficiaries. Sanford Health Plan continues to administer benefits for the Medicaid expansion population, while Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota was awarded state managed Medicaid contract that came into effect from Jan. 1, 2022. On the Medicare front, more seniors are gravitating to managed care and this means growth for large national carriers.
