North & South Carolina | Winter | 2010 | Health Plan Analysis

Managed Medicaid continues to evolve in South Carolina with the consolidation of plans, peaks in enrollment and proposed cost containment measures. To help keep Medicaid prescription drug costs in line, the state supports education for Medicaid providers through a program of academic detailing, which is expected to go statewide soon. In the senior market, the Carolinas continue to gain momentum with regular Medicare Advantage plan growth and with special needs plans. In North Carolina, the SNP sector is dominated by UnitedHealth Group, and in South Carolina Care Improvement Plus enrolls most SNP beneficiaries.
