Colorado Medicaid has seen a reduction in emergency room use and a drop in per-member spending among children due to a medical home initiative. Health plans in Colorado and Nevada have taken highly individualized approaches to dealing with health plan members who have chronic lung illnesses. Nevada Medicaid has instituted a number of cost-saving measures, including the use of preferred drug lists for diabetic, anti-convulsant and anti-psychotic drugs.
