Introducing new functionality within InCites Benchmarking and Analytics, allowing users to search and evaluate according to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. <\/em><\/p>\n

Designed in 2015 to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all,” the United\u00a0Nations\u2019 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have caught the attention and the imagination of the research community.\u00a0 All over the globe, universities, research-intensive institutions and governments have made the UN SDGs a core and integral part of their own missions. In fact, from achieving clean water and sanitation for all to securing real gender equality, these goals cannot be met without the sustained efforts of academics worldwide.<\/p>\n

As concerted\u00a0global efforts towards these goals gain momentum,\u00a0stakeholders across the research community need to find, assess and evaluate articles that directly align with the SDGs in order to understand how research outputs contribute to progress. At Clarivate, sustainability is woven through every part of our business strategy<\/a>. We help companies innovate for a better future worldwide while operating to the highest social, environmental and ethics standards, and we\u2019re deeply invested in the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This is why today we\u2019re announcing the introduction of a new way to identify research articles associated with the SDGs in InCites Benchmarking & Analytics\u2122.<\/a><\/p>\n

SDGs in InCites are based on Citation Topics<\/a>, which leverage the unique citation links available in the Web of Science<\/a>\u2122. \u00a0Each SDG is made of a set of Micro Citation Topics carefully identified by analysts at the company\u2019s Institute of Scientific Information<\/a>\u2122 (ISI) based on a combination of bibliometric analysis and manual curation. Available as a new schema in the Research Areas module in InCites, the SDGs will be reviewed regularly based on customer feedback, in addition to the yearly re-clustering of Citation Topics.<\/p>\n

SDGs can be easily viewed and exported in tables and all visualizations within InCites, and a new Tree Map visualization specifically displays the SDG colours and icons.<\/p>\n

Customers can now follow and evaluate the ongoing \u201cconversation\u201d of UN SDGs research in the literature. We have already mapped grants to SDGs in Converis<\/a>\u2122, our Research Management system, and we hope that this new development in InCites further contributes to the easy identification of the global research community\u2019s contribution. We believe human ingenuity can change the world and improve our future if we work together, which is why we will continue to look for opportunities to improve our products, enabling progress towards the UN SDGs and accelerating innovation.<\/p>\n
